Jeff Currier's Artwork

At the Denver Sportsmen’s show several years ago I ran into my good friend Jeff Currier. He was working on a watercolor. I knew Jeff was talented; however I did not know that he was a gifted artist. He was applying the final spots on a Snake River Cutthroat that was the best trout painting I had ever seen. I begged him to sell it to me, and he did but with a look on his face like, “I can actually sell my paintings?” Since that day I have commissioned Jeff to paint at least 15 more fish. The paintings are as good as it gets. I could not be more pleased, and they make my fishing room a real work of art.

Jeff Currier's Fly Fishing Adventures
"2009 Fly Fishing in Baja Mexico - The New Lifestyle Begins"

In November of 2009 Jeff began a new way of life. He gave up his long time job at the Jack Dennis Fly shop to follow his dreams of being a fulltime artist, lecturer, author, trip host and fly fishing consultant. Most would say he’s crazy heading out on his own during such hard times, but Jeff is optimistic. He says, “If I can start my new lifestyle now it will only get better.”

If you know Jeff, not only is he excited to take on the new challenges, but why wouldn’t he celebrate with a little expedition to the saltwater to start off? Well that’s just what he did. Jeff headed for Baja Mexico with one of his best friends, Sam Vigneri of Casper, WY and they met up with another friend Grant Hartman to chase some of the oceans favorite game fish with the fly rod.

Enjoy Jeff’s trip report and beautiful photos of the fish they caught along the way!

Currier's Personal Journal, January 2009 - It was less than three weeks ago that I finished up a great 23 year run at the JD fly shop. Since that day I’ve spoke in CA, fished in CA, Mexico and two days on the South Fork since I’ve been home. I’m liking this! On my first stop I did a “Trout Bum” presentation for the Long Beach Casting Club in Southern CA. As always I met a lot of great people, one of them an old friend, Rich Garrett, who generously took time from work to take ...
