Jeff Currier's Fly Fishing Adventures
"Hunt
for Mighty Mahseer - Nepal and India"
In 2002 Jeff and his wife Granny traveled Nepal and India fulfilling a
life long dream of hiking to Mt Everest Base Camp and fishing for the
fabled Mahseer, the worlds largest carp. The journey began on Oct 7,
2002 and ended December 12, 2002. This was possibly the greatest
adventure one could ever have with a fly rod!
Remember, these are emails written from run-down computers in the most
remote areas of the world. Jeff's grammar and spelling is not the best
under these conditions. Enjoy the travelogue and pictures!

Currier's Personal Journal, May and June 2008
The jungle was noisy at 3 am on Friday May 30, 2008 as we were camped on the
banks of the Ramganga River in Northern India. Our group consisted of friends
Misty Dhillon, owner of the Himalayan Outback and Chris Baily and his camera
crew from Reel Outdoors TV here in the USA. We also had a camp staff consisting
of 11 members. These wonderful folks cooked ... |

Currier's Personal Journal, October 28, 2002
- On October 18th 2AM USA time (1:45pm Nepal time) Granny and I
hobbled into Mt Everest Base camp. After 8 days of traveling up
up and more up we reached the 17,600ft elevation and the
remnants of many years of camps. Although there wasn't much camp
type stuff or any groups in action for Everest at this time, it
was very incredible. The Kumbu Ice Fall is an amazing site. It
is this section ... |

- All of you have spent at least some time on the water with me
over the last 20 years. Most probably think too dam much time in
fact! Some of you have been lucky enough to experience Mother
Natures finest, such as mass windstorms that nearly capsized us
on a lake, filled the boat with hail, tropical storms,
hurricanes, blizzards, micro burst while ice fishing, 4 of 5
weeks of rain ... |

- We're alive! Miracle with all the crazy stuff going on lately.
We just got back into Bangalore after what will go down as one
of my top fishing adventures. In India of all places, crazy.
It's a fact that most of India is filthy, but the Cauvery River
is spectacular! It is completely protected from poachers of
wildlife and fisherman's nets. And for that reason it may be one
of the truly ... |

- We have now been traveling for over 2 months! It’s been
unbelievable being abroad for so long. A truly magnificent
experience! Since my last entry from Bangalore, India, after our
fantastic and successful mahseer fishing experience from the the
Cauvery River Region of Southern India, Granny and I were
stranded in Bangalore. Basically, our Air-Nepal plane to return
us to Kathmandu ... |
