A Full Schedule in Indiana and Michigan Starts Now!

As always, it’s hard to leave Victor in the heart of summer.  The yard is cozy.  I’ve been growing a hummingbird flower garden for years and it’s finally stunning and I have hummers buzzing around like mad.  We also have two bird houses with clutches of tree swallows...

The End of a Great Adventure at Inukshuk Lodge

It was a cold night but it didn’t snow.  We woke up to the same drizzle we went to bed with.  It didn’t look like a fun day to go fishing in northern Canada but the wind had settled at least enough we could fish from the boats.   High tide was at 2 PM.  This...

Tides, Motors & Huge Waves Hinder Fly Fishing at Inukshuk Lodge

Boat fishing wasn’t meant to be today.  First of all, high tide wasn’t until midafternoon meaning we couldn’t launch the boats until 11 AM.  And we’d need to be back by 3 PM before the tide got too low to beach the boats.  Then we had a problem with Burts boat.  The...

Flyfishing Nunavik from Inukshuk Lodge

It cooled down overnight.  Then at around 4 AM the rain started.  I’ve been getting up before 7 each day but the rain kept me zipped up in my mummy bag on my top bunk dreaming of Arctic char.   The other reason to stay in bed was that the first high tide of the...

Fly Fishing for Arctic Char in Ungava Bay

The first high tide of the day wasn’t until 11 AM which meant we couldn’t get the boats in the water until 9 AM.  Then there was a debate as to whether or not we could stay out all day until the next high tide.  Days are getting shorter in the evening by about ten...

A Full Day Fly Fishing at Ungava Bay

Paul Ostiguy and his staffs most difficult hurdle at Inukshuk Lodge is dealing with tides.  Ungava Bay is the Atlantic Ocean and in this particular location the variation from low tide to high tide is one of the largest in the world.  Its two days after the new moon...

“Monsoon Currier” Strikes – Stuck in Kuujjuaq

It didn’t matter that I was on Idaho time.  I slept lightly in my Montreal Airport hotel and got out of bed at 5:40 AM well before my wakeup call.  I took one last look at email and set my Fantasy Baseball team for the week then broke down shop.  I was as excited for...

An Evening Hatch Galore

There’s no sense in wasting time in this life.  Especially summer time in Idaho.  I got home from the Bahamas at 1 AM this morning and took a four hour nap.  Granny and I had coffee on the back porch a little before 6 AM then I unpacked and cleaned the salt off some...

Flyfishing for Permit at East End Lodge Grand Bahama

East End Lodge is a beautiful place on the far eastern corner of Grand Bahama.  This is the more secluded part of the island a good hour from the bustling city of Freeport.  Wil’s and my comfortable room was a mere 100-feet from the dock where we boarded our...

Welcome to the Blog of Jeff Currier!

I started fly fishing at age 7 in the lakes and ponds of New England cutting my teeth on various sunfish, bass, crappie and stocked trout. I went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where I graduated with a Naturalist Degree while I discovered new fishing opportunities for pike, muskellunge, walleyes and various salmonids found in Lake Superior and its tributaries.

From there I headed west to work a few years in the Yellowstone region to simply work as much as most people fish and fish as much as most people work. I did just that, only it lasted over 20 years working at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop in Jackson, WY where I departed in 2009. Now it’s time to work for "The Man", working for myself that is.

I pursue my love to paint fish, lecture on every aspect of fly fishing you can imagine and host a few trips to some of the most exotic places you can think of. My ultimate goal is to catch as many species of fish on fly possible from freshwater to saltwater, throughout the world. I presently have taken over 440 species from over 60 countries!
