The Somerset Fly Fishing Show

blog-Jan-23-2014-wolfeboro-new-hampshireIt’s been a nice trip back East.  Granny and I knocked off a successful Marlborough Fly Fishing Show and caught up with plenty of my family and friends.  We’ve also enjoyed our time hanging out in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.  But today it’s back to work starting with the dreaded six hour drive to New Jersey.  This time it’s for the biggest show of all, the Somerset Fly Fishing Show.

You’ll have to look hard to find me doing art amongst the fly tiers.  There are so many tiers at this show it’s incredible.  No matter what, be sure and do so to say hello and check out some of my new stuff.  What I mean is I have a bunch of new products including frosted beer glasses and stainless travel mugs with my fish on them.  As always I have limited supply because of flight travel and last weekends show in MA.  If you’re after a particular fish drop me a note and I’ll hang on to one for you.

I’ll be giving presentations this weekend as well.  Here’s my schedule:

Friday – 2:45 – “Warmwater Fly Fishing – Bass, Pike, Carp and More”

Saturday – 10:00 – “Fly Fishing Saltwater – Bonefish to Billfish”

Hope to see you there!

I started fly fishing at age 7 in the lakes and ponds of New England cutting my teeth on various sunfish, bass, crappie and stocked trout. I went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where I graduated with a Naturalist Degree while I discovered new fishing opportunities for pike, muskellunge, walleyes and various salmonids found in Lake Superior and its tributaries.

From there I headed west to work a few years in the Yellowstone region to simply work as much as most people fish and fish as much as most people work. I did just that, only it lasted over 20 years working at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop in Jackson, WY where I departed in 2009. Now it’s time to work for "The Man", working for myself that is.

I pursue my love to paint fish, lecture on every aspect of fly fishing you can imagine and host a few trips to some of the most exotic places you can think of. My ultimate goal is to catch as many species of fish on fly possible from freshwater to saltwater, throughout the world. I presently have taken over 440 species from over 60 countries!
