We Have a New Drift Boat

Jeff-Currier-TJ-RungT.J. Rung and I met in Belize on a permit trip during the peak of Covid.  That trip cost him a ton less than meeting me – so the joke goes.  T.J. and I hit it off and he has since traveled with me on Yellow Dog trips I hosted to the Seychelles on three separate occasions, earlier this year to Gabon and next year he’ll join me in St. Brandon’s Atoll.  But he’s a smart man and has no regrets.  All completed trips were incredible and there’s no doubt that St. Brandon’s will also be great.  There’s a very good chance we will fish amazing places together for another 20 years – at least!

flyfishingT.J had a spare ClackaCraft Drift Boat kicking around that was in his way.  When we fished together back in March, he said if I came and got it, I could have it.  Well, we arrived here in Pittsburgh late yesterday and this morning I hooked the Clacka up to the Ruby Van and we started the long tow home.  Heading home however is not without more fishing on the way. Tomorrow we are musky fishing on the legendary Lake St. Clair.

Firelands-WineryWe left Pittsburgh around 11:30 AM.  The trailer lights aren’t working so I took it easy and we won’t drive at night.  To be sure of that, Granny and I booked a Harvest Host called Firelands Winery in Sandusky, OH.  Its beautiful and so is the boat behind the van.  We’ll get up early tomorrow and drive about 3 hours for fishing.
