May as Well Been Only A Picnic

beach-fliesGranny and I returned to the beach where we caught the mini roosterfish two days ago.  If there are little ones there’s bound to be big ones at least occasionally.  Well, that was not today.

green-jackWe are half way between full moon and no moon right now which means we have the smallest tide fluctuations there are, known as the neap tide.  This week is proof that that neap tides stink for fly fishing the surf of Baja.  While both Granny and I fished pretty hard, the only fish we caught were these tiny little green jacks.  Better than being skunked however!

Granny-flyfishingThe highlight of our beach tour was hands down the lunch Granny pulled from my Simms pack.  She brought chicken wings, cheese and crackers, nuts and chocolate.  This young Granny is a good one.  Me on the other hand, I forgot the beer even though I brought one of my Yetis all the way to Baja!

Despite being 2022, internet is sparse in remote parts of Baja.  Furthermore, after a 10-12hr fishing day on the salt, it’s hard to get the blogs out on time.  They will be delayed but they will come in full.  Stay tuned!

In the meantime, please visit my webstore for “Christmas Gifts for the Angler that has Everything” and stuff those stockings with my fish decals from “Pescador on the Fly”.
