The End of a Great Season & Trip

Currier-pikeScott Smith, Josh Gallivan and I squeezed out a few early hours fly fishing for pike today before our long drive back home.  My luck continued and I landed two more nice pike including a hefty 37”.  Its been a magnificent little jaunt to say the least and great times with two friends.

While we snaked out some marvelous weather, this trip looks to be the last of it.  On our drive home tonight we ran into snow and cold and the forecast looks wintery from here on out.  Nothing wrong with that though – its time.

I’m home catching up on things this week.  But good news.  One of my tasks is to pack for Mexico.  I’m headed back to the flats of Casa Blanca thanks to my friend Jerry Arnold.  Stay tuned!

fishing-giftsWhile I’m fishing, don’t forget that my webstore IS THE PLACE to buy “Gifts for the Anglers that have Everything!”  Check out my famous coffee mugs, frosted beer steins, sun-protective shirts and hoodies with nearly any fish species you want on them.

Also check out my decals from Pescador on the Fly.  All the trout and bonefish, permit and tarpon both in 5” size and 10”.

I started fly fishing at age 7 in the lakes and ponds of New England cutting my teeth on various sunfish, bass, crappie and stocked trout. I went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where I graduated with a Naturalist Degree while I discovered new fishing opportunities for pike, muskellunge, walleyes and various salmonids found in Lake Superior and its tributaries.

From there I headed west to work a few years in the Yellowstone region to simply work as much as most people fish and fish as much as most people work. I did just that, only it lasted over 20 years working at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop in Jackson, WY where I departed in 2009. Now it’s time to work for "The Man", working for myself that is.

I pursue my love to paint fish, lecture on every aspect of fly fishing you can imagine and host a few trips to some of the most exotic places you can think of. My ultimate goal is to catch as many species of fish on fly possible from freshwater to saltwater, throughout the world. I presently have taken over 440 species from over 60 countries!
