flyfishingIf its not one thing its another.  After the postponement of the Marlboro Fly Fishing Show it felt good that the Edison New Jersey Fly Fishing Show was going on for sure.  Yeah, we suspected attendance would be down with Covid still on the go.  But the last thing we needed was a huge snowstorm.

flyfishingOn Friday night parts of the East coast, including NJ, got hammered with blizzard conditions.  Though it wasn’t nearly as bad as forecasted, once that forecast is made, folks plan to stay home.  Saturday was one of the quietest fly fishing show days I can remember.  Overall the entire weekend was quieter than expected.

Currier-fish-artA slow show isn’t the end of the world however.  I took advantage of having extra downtime to do up my sharpie art on cool items like the Riversmith rod carriers.  I also to time took visit with other vendors and in particular, the local fly tyers.  I rarely get to meet these guys but was able to mull around and check them all out.  I even picked up a few nice flies.  There’s a lot of talent at these events.

fish-NHGranny and I returned to Wolfeboro, NH this week to visit mom and get caught up.  This weekend we’ll fire up the new van and head out for another two months.  First stop will be the Denver Fly Fishing Show.  We hope to see you there!

I started fly fishing at age 7 in the lakes and ponds of New England cutting my teeth on various sunfish, bass, crappie and stocked trout. I went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where I graduated with a Naturalist Degree while I discovered new fishing opportunities for pike, muskellunge, walleyes and various salmonids found in Lake Superior and its tributaries.

From there I headed west to work a few years in the Yellowstone region to simply work as much as most people fish and fish as much as most people work. I did just that, only it lasted over 20 years working at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop in Jackson, WY where I departed in 2009. Now it’s time to work for "The Man", working for myself that is.

I pursue my love to paint fish, lecture on every aspect of fly fishing you can imagine and host a few trips to some of the most exotic places you can think of. My ultimate goal is to catch as many species of fish on fly possible from freshwater to saltwater, throughout the world. I presently have taken over 440 species from over 60 countries!
