The Lynnwood, Washington Fly Fishing Show

blog-Feb-12-2015-The-Fly-Fishing-ShowI’m back on the road again.  This time I’m driving because its twelve days of West Coast talks.  I’ll start this weekend with the Fly Fishing Show in Lynnwood, Washington and head south from there to California.  I have a couple one night gigs including Tracy Fly Fishers and Fresno Fly Fishers and three days at the Pleasanton, California Fly Fishing Show.  This is usually an enjoyable tour with temps in the 60°s rather than the subzero temps and snow I dealt with on the East Coast in January.

I’ll get a day of striper fishing on the CA Delta in as well with my friends Ben Byng and Steve Potter.  I make it out with these guys every couple years and generally catch a few.  Hopefully this year I’ll nail a big one.

Here’s my seminar schedule for the weekend in Lynnwood.  If you’re there please swing by my table and say hello!

Saturday

11:15 – Casting Pond – “Casting in the Wind and the Double Haul”

3:00 – Catch Room – “Fly Fishing Warmwater – Pike, Bass, Carp and More”

Sunday

12:00 – Catch Room – “Improve Your Fishing Photography”

I started fly fishing at age 7 in the lakes and ponds of New England cutting my teeth on various sunfish, bass, crappie and stocked trout. I went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where I graduated with a Naturalist Degree while I discovered new fishing opportunities for pike, muskellunge, walleyes and various salmonids found in Lake Superior and its tributaries.

From there I headed west to work a few years in the Yellowstone region to simply work as much as most people fish and fish as much as most people work. I did just that, only it lasted over 20 years working at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop in Jackson, WY where I departed in 2009. Now it’s time to work for "The Man", working for myself that is.

I pursue my love to paint fish, lecture on every aspect of fly fishing you can imagine and host a few trips to some of the most exotic places you can think of. My ultimate goal is to catch as many species of fish on fly possible from freshwater to saltwater, throughout the world. I presently have taken over 440 species from over 60 countries!
