My Fly Fishing Presentations Tour Starts in Atlanta

fly-fishingIt’s been a whirlwind since getting off the boat in Baja Friday.  Saturday we drove seven hours south to Cerritos.  Sunday I flew north up the Baja coast with a perfect view all the way to Los Angles.  At 11:59 pm I boarded a redeye from LA to Minneapolis and arrived at 5:30 am Monday.  Then went onward to Duluth and made the drive home to Hayward.

flyfishing-presentationsI got home around 1 pm and unpacked from Baja.  I double checked the packing I did two weeks ago for a few days in Atlanta to speak for the Atlanta Fly Fishing Club and was right back on a plane yesterday morning to Atlanta.  I’m staying with friend Austin Kane and his family.

Jeff-CurrierThe crud that had me miserable Friday, Saturday and Sunday couldn’t handle my travel schedule and luckily by the time I got to Atlanta it was gone.  I felt great today and joined Austin to his local gym then this afternoon I finally got some rest.

Tonight I delivered one of my many PowerPoint Presentations, “So, You Want to be a World Traveling Fly Fisher” to the Atlanta Fly Fishing Club.  It was my first gig of the 2023-2024 speaking season.  It was a full house at the Manuel’s Tavern and I felt no rust from several months off from speaking.  I love doing these gigs!

Jeff-CurrierI’m sticking around here in Georgia to fish two days with Austin and friends.  I feel like I haven’t been fishing enough lately so this short trip will help.  My rehabbed shoulder has been treating me well so I’m gonna use it!

If you belong to a club or need a speaker for an event whether in person or by Zoom, all my details can be found here.  Feel free to contact me anytime.

I started fly fishing at age 7 in the lakes and ponds of New England cutting my teeth on various sunfish, bass, crappie and stocked trout. I went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where I graduated with a Naturalist Degree while I discovered new fishing opportunities for pike, muskellunge, walleyes and various salmonids found in Lake Superior and its tributaries.

From there I headed west to work a few years in the Yellowstone region to simply work as much as most people fish and fish as much as most people work. I did just that, only it lasted over 20 years working at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop in Jackson, WY where I departed in 2009. Now it’s time to work for "The Man", working for myself that is.

I pursue my love to paint fish, lecture on every aspect of fly fishing you can imagine and host a few trips to some of the most exotic places you can think of. My ultimate goal is to catch as many species of fish on fly possible from freshwater to saltwater, throughout the world. I presently have taken over 440 species from over 60 countries!
