Bitten Hard By Jonathan Boulton

Bitten-HardIn 2007 I met Jonathan Boulton from South Africa.  I was working for African Angler hosting anglers for Nile perch and tigerfish on Lake Nasser of the mighty Nile River in the boonies of Egypt.  Jonathan, a hardcore angler, shared similar passions including an eagerness to travel and fish the planets most far-out places.  The owner of African Angler and great friend, Tim Baily, suggested I save a place in my group and meet and fish with Jonathan.  I’m glad I did because during that adventure Jonathan (Jono) and I became friends for life.

Bitten-HardDespite living roughly 8,000 miles away, Jono and I have managed to meet up and fish together in various locations throughout the world and work together on projects.  During Covid, when everyone in the fly fishing industry found themselves with too much time on their hands, Jono saw this as an opportunity to raise funds for a charity he and his wife started to help stop poaching in Kruger National Park.  Jono decided to write a book where he could dedicate some of the profits to this great cause.  I am proud to say I wrote the foreword.  Click here for a short film about Jono’s efforts at Kruger.

Bitten-Hard-Jonathan-BoultonWith Christmas creeping in on us and everyone soon wondering what to get their loved ones and angling friends that have everything, I’m suggesting considering Jono’s finished book.  While he’s the first to admit he’s no Ernest Hemingway, he’s accumulated some fantastic stories and I thought it was a great and interesting read.  Click on this link and order your copy of, Bitten Hard.
