Giant African Threadfin on the Fly

If you look at a map of Gabon we’re on the southern coast exactly at the border of Loango National Park.  It’s a long way from Idaho and takes a few days to adjust to the time change.  Because of this I slept like garbage last night.  It was miserable waking up at...

Final Leg to Sette Cama Camp in Gabon

I’ve referred to traveling from one side of the earth to the other as entering the “time warp” many times before.  I left the Midwest Fly Fishing Show in Detroit on Sunday night and I’m finally at my destination, Sette Cama Camp in Gabon.  I’m struggling to shake off...

A Long Road to Fly Fishing in Gabon

There are few fantastic easy-to-get-to fishing destinations these days – particularly when it comes to saltwater fly fishing.  Its Wednesday night in west Africa and I’m in Port Gentil, Gabon on the way to fishing Sette Cama Camp with my friends of Tourette Fishing. ...

Arrival in Libreville Gabon

It was gutsy flying home for a mere ten hours after the Michigan Midwest Fly Fishing Show Sunday night instead of heading directly to Gabon.  I nearly didn’t make it back to Idaho because of high winds and snow.  But the fish gods were watching and I landed in Idaho...

A Flyby at Home

The longest speaking road trip of the year ended late Monday night after the 14 hour drive from Pleasanton, CA to Victor, ID.  I love the peacefulness of the empty highways through Nevada.  It’s like therapy after the traffic on the west coast.  I was so happy to wake...

The Great American Fly Fishing Expo of Indianapolis

The last blog was short then I didn’t follow up with the weekend report on Monday.  That’s because I have been fighting the show plague of 2016.  It started the last day during that horrible weather in Florida twelve days ago and dang near killed me traveling to...

Welcome to the Blog of Jeff Currier!

Contact Jeff

I started fly fishing at age 7 in the lakes and ponds of New England cutting my teeth on various sunfish, bass, crappie and stocked trout. I went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where I graduated with a Naturalist Degree while I discovered new fishing opportunities for pike, muskellunge, walleyes and various salmonids found in Lake Superior and its tributaries.

From there I headed west to work a few years in the Yellowstone region to simply work as much as most people fish and fish as much as most people work. I did just that, only it lasted over 20 years working at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop in Jackson, WY where I departed in 2009. Now it’s time to work for "The Man", working for myself that is.

I pursue my love to paint fish, lecture on every aspect of fly fishing you can imagine and host a few trips to some of the most exotic places you can think of. My ultimate goal is to catch as many species of fish on fly possible from freshwater to saltwater, throughout the world. I presently have taken over 440 species from over 60 countries!
