I’ve managed to put a muskellunge in the boat five days in a row. Five musky fishing days that is. Today, I grabbed visiting buddy Paul Cavanaugh again with hopes of going six for six. A large task being we didn’t make our first cast until almost noon and Paul doesn’t fly fish often. Furthermore, the skies were bright and blue, which isn’t musky weather, to go with a strong cold wind that made controlling my boat more than difficult.
We went to a lake I love and we enjoyed a nice visit. But I hate to say it, the streak is over. Paul had one swirl while doing a run-of-the-mill figure-8. The fish never showed up again. Before we knew it our day was over and largest supermoon of the year was rising. Also known as the Beaver Moon.
Despite no fish it was great to see and hang a couple days with an old friend. We got caught up on everything and had blast on what will be some of the last days of my Wisconsin fishing season. And on the way home, even though the moon was bright, we had a stellar 15 minute show from the Northern Lights. As usual, its not all about the fishing!
I’m going to keep reminding everyone that Christmas is around the corner and I sell gifts for “The Angler that has Everything”.
