Skunked by Tiny Wild Brown Trout

trout-bumLadies’ Night got crazy last evening.  Howie got home from work about the time I got Granny and Sue off the bluegill lake.  A storm blew in and it was a wild night enjoying dinner, beers and wine on their covered porch listening to wind and spring peeper frogs.  The tiny little frogs were about as loud as they can get.  The peepers “peep” is one of my favorite sounds in nature.

WisconsinGranny and I stayed the night and I slept in the back of my Exploder.  The best sleeps of my life come here.  Therefore, morning came early but it didn’t stop me from getting up at 5:30.  We enjoyed coffee with Howie and Sue then we drove about 20 minutes and I fished this beautiful little brown trout stream – almost exactly where I fished at nearly the same time last year.  The difference, last year was cloudy, cool and drizzly and I caught fish from every bend.  Today was abnormally hot, brutally windy, the sun was bright and there were no fish.  Not to mention that I was sweating to death on my hike and the black gnats devoured me.  But, that’s wild brown trout fishing.  Even when they’re tiny!
