2024 Fly Fishing Show Tour Starts Early in Massachussetts

What made this family holiday visit to New Hampshire doable was that my first speaking gig of the 2024 season kicks off at the Marlboro, MA Fly Fishing Show Friday January 5^th. Granny and I drove the van out ten days ago from WI with all our show supplies so we could continue on from here. Tomorrow we’ll drive to Marlborough and set up our booth. Friday, Saturday and Sunday Granny will show off my fish coffee mugs, beer steins, hoodies and shirts while I’ll be giving demonstrations at the casting pond and delivering PowerPoint Presentations in the show theaters.

When I’m not entertaining I’ll either be at the show bookstore autographing or at the booth with Granny talking fishing and doing artwork while folks watch. If you’re coming to the show consider having me draw you a fish on your favorite piece of gear with my sharpies. It could be a Cliff Fly Box (I’ll have blanks on hand), your fanny pack, backpack or you name it. As long as your fish/idea doesn’t take me too long the price is reasonable, usually around $50. Just be sure that if you have a project for me, swing by our booth first thing when you arrive so I can get started. I try not to fall too far behind but it’s nice to have at least a few hours!

For those who can’t make Marlboro this weekend we have many more stops over the first three months of 2024. We’ll be at Denver CO, Edison NJ and the Atlanta Fly Fishing Shows as well as the Minneapolis Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo in March. I also have a few private stops at clubs that you can find on my schedule.

I started fly fishing at age 7 in the lakes and ponds of New England cutting my teeth on various sunfish, bass, crappie and stocked trout. I went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where I graduated with a Naturalist Degree while I discovered new fishing opportunities for pike, muskellunge, walleyes and various salmonids found in Lake Superior and its tributaries.

From there I headed west to work a few years in the Yellowstone region to simply work as much as most people fish and fish as much as most people work. I did just that, only it lasted over 20 years working at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop in Jackson, WY where I departed in 2009. Now it’s time to work for "The Man", working for myself that is.

I pursue my love to paint fish, lecture on every aspect of fly fishing you can imagine and host a few trips to some of the most exotic places you can think of. My ultimate goal is to catch as many species of fish on fly possible from freshwater to saltwater, throughout the world. I presently have taken over 440 species from over 60 countries!
