Last Day – If it Swims it Eats!

November 27, 2012 The last day is always sad.  Granny and I’ve had such good time down here at Belize River Lodge.  This morning we awoke to developing clouds.  This would normally deter us from the flats; however the tarpon weren’t rolling at the Belize River mouth...

Day 6 – Fly Fishing for Stubborn Permit

November 26, 2012 I opened our room door at 5:30 expecting a whim of cold air like the last few days, but there wasn’t.  A t-shirt would suffice for my first cup of coffee.  More delighting, there were few clouds overhead.  Today we were going permit fishing with...

Day 5 – Granny Gets Her Tarpon!

November 25, 2012 I needed my fleece again this morning. It didn’t feel quite as cool as yesterday morning, but still, in Belize you shouldn’t need a fleece. Today we have a new guide, Pedro. I requested Pedro because back when I came to Belize River Lodge a lot he...

Day 4 – Fly Fishing for Tripletail

It’s never a good sign when you wake up in a tropical fishing area and begin the day by frantically digging for a fleece. This morning was that day. When I stepped out the door of our air-conditioned room it was colder outside. The cold front is still here and...

Day 3 – An Unwelcome Cold Front in Belize

Granny and I are fishing long hard days here at Belize River Lodge. We’re happily exhausted from it. Because of this I apologize for short blog entries and falling behind. As always I’ll catch up. There’s not a whole lot to be written of today anyhow. A terrible cold...

Day 2 – Belize River Lodge

At 5:15 AM this morning I headed for the Belize River Lodge kitchen for coffee under a sky full of stars. Visibility on the flats was not going to be a problem today. I was so stoked I could hardly concentrate on catching up on yesterdays blog and went on to blow off...

Back to Belize

It’s been way too long since my last trip to Belize. I’d have to dig back through old journals but I’m guessing it’s been like eight years. I make it sound like I’ve been to Belize often – that’s because I have. Between 1989 and 1993 I went nine times. No I wasn’t...

Works Done – Let’s go Fishing In Belize

Today is the end of the longest period of no fishing for me since last February.  My wild run on various waters the last two months put me way behind in my work from art, organizing my winter schedule and updating my PowerPoints for winter shows.  I buckled down...

Welcome to the Blog of Jeff Currier!

Contact Jeff

I started fly fishing at age 7 in the lakes and ponds of New England cutting my teeth on various sunfish, bass, crappie and stocked trout. I went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where I graduated with a Naturalist Degree while I discovered new fishing opportunities for pike, muskellunge, walleyes and various salmonids found in Lake Superior and its tributaries.

From there I headed west to work a few years in the Yellowstone region to simply work as much as most people fish and fish as much as most people work. I did just that, only it lasted over 20 years working at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop in Jackson, WY where I departed in 2009. Now it’s time to work for "The Man", working for myself that is.

I pursue my love to paint fish, lecture on every aspect of fly fishing you can imagine and host a few trips to some of the most exotic places you can think of. My ultimate goal is to catch as many species of fish on fly possible from freshwater to saltwater, throughout the world. I presently have taken over 440 species from over 60 countries!
