Practice with Bead Head Ed

What a treat it is to be on Gary Eckman's Good Times Team in the Jackson Hole One Fly.  Not only does Gary sponsor me to be one of his teammates, but he also splurges on a few guided fishing trips so we get practiced up before the tournament.  Usually the guides just...

The Snake River South of Jackson Hole

You’d think with competing in the Jackson Hole One Fly next week I’d have at least a few practice days on the Snake River in Jackson Hole this year.  But I haven’t.  I’ve been gallivanting everywhere but the Snake and in fact, my last day on the Snake was during the...

Misty Dhillon Meets Quake Lake in Montana

Most of you have seen the movie Waypoints and the part where I was fishing for golden mahseer in India.  I was fishing with my great friend Misty Dhillon, owner of the Himalayan Outback.  We filmed the exciting segment in May of 2013 and if you missed that series of...

Jackson Hole One Fly Hits the Radar

With the Jackson Hole One Fly quickly approaching, friend, captain and founder of the Good Times team that I have the privilege of fishing on, Gary Eckman thought it might be nice if I spent a day or two warming up for the tournament.  He’s right.  Other than July’s...

Where the Boat shouldn’t Go

Being gone so much this summer made me want to stay close to home this week.  Instead of heading out on a two day camping fishing trip for Granny’s days off we opted to fish locally.  That being said, we still wanted to do something special and try for some bigger...

Carping for the Jackson Hole One Fly

With Friends of the Teton (FTR) and Teton Valley Trout Unlimited in my town, Jackson Hole Trout Unlimited and Honoring our Veterans over the hill and the Henry’s Fork Foundation not too far away I get hit hard for donations.  But I do my best to come through for all...

Fly Fishing in Iceland 2014 comes to and End

I’d like to offer a very special thanks to Ingo Helgason and Icelandic Fly Fishermen for showing me the time of my life in Iceland the last two weeks.  Even with difficult weather and river conditions the fishing was off the charts.  I landed ten Atlantic salmon...

Another Miracle on the Last Cast

Not only was this morning’s session my last here in Iceland, but also Ingo’s.  Ingo returned to Reykjavik with me tonight and has no more Atlantic salmon fishing days this year.  That’s why we both got up early and made it to the water at 7 AM.  We wanted to end...

Iceland’s Atlantic salmon Fishing at its Best

I was shocked to get a glimmer of sunshine in my eyes at 4 AM this morning.  It’s been so dreary I haven’t closed the curtains in my room for a week.  Despite being exhausted from my Iceland schedule I couldn’t wait to get up and head for the Laxá Ađaldal with Ingo. ...

All I can think about is my Icelandic Pale Ale!

It’s hard to believe the weather could get worse than it’s been, but this morning even the long time guides of Iceland’s famous Nes are freaked out.  The temperature was 40◦.  The wind was a gale and heavy rain smacked us in the face all day.  Yes, the difficult...

Fly Fishing from the Nes of Iceland

Ingo and I began our day with a five hour drive back up to the Laxá Adaldal.  We were on the road before 8 AM because we wanted to fish the afternoon/evening session that starts at 1.  This time I’ll see entirely different beats on the river because we are staying at...

Fly Fishing the Flekkudalsá of Iceland

The Flekkudalsá is a small river about a quarter the size of the famous Laxá Adaldal where I’ve been fishing with Icelandic Fly Fishermen the last four days.  It’s actually two small rivers that come together about a ¼ mile from the ocean.  On this river the Atlantic...

From Laxá Adaldal to Flekkudalsá

Ingo, Hilmar, Loa and I were assigned beats 2 and 4 this morning, our last session on the Laxá Adaldal.  To split up, Ingo and I went to beat 4 while Hilmar and Loa went to beat 2.  The day was another cold windy one with drizzle and rain.  Three hours into fishing,...

Last Day on Laxa Adaldal

The cool thing about Iceland is that when someone catches a fish everyone celebrates.  Everyone here at Laxamýri Laxá í Ađaldal was excited to see the “Single Handed American” catch a huge salmon.  Most guest here have caught monsters of their own over the years but...

Welcome to the Blog of Jeff Currier!

Contact Jeff

I started fly fishing at age 7 in the lakes and ponds of New England cutting my teeth on various sunfish, bass, crappie and stocked trout. I went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where I graduated with a Naturalist Degree while I discovered new fishing opportunities for pike, muskellunge, walleyes and various salmonids found in Lake Superior and its tributaries.

From there I headed west to work a few years in the Yellowstone region to simply work as much as most people fish and fish as much as most people work. I did just that, only it lasted over 20 years working at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop in Jackson, WY where I departed in 2009. Now it’s time to work for "The Man", working for myself that is.

I pursue my love to paint fish, lecture on every aspect of fly fishing you can imagine and host a few trips to some of the most exotic places you can think of. My ultimate goal is to catch as many species of fish on fly possible from freshwater to saltwater, throughout the world. I presently have taken over 440 species from over 60 countries!
